Every Game Getting a Free PSVR 2 Upgrade (so far) – Road to VR

The lack of backwards compatibility between PSVR 2 and the original PSVR is a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, we’re getting a ton of games for Sony’s next-gen VR headset that have been specifically built or overhauled to make use of the new hardware, but it also means a lot of games in your PSVR library will forever be stuck in the past.

Thankfully, there are a handful of developers who have pledged free PSVR 2 support for their games, many of which you can already grab on the store before the headset launches on February 22nd, 2023.

Note: There are a ton of games coming to PSVR 2 you might recognize, although not all studios have mentioned free PSVR 2 support for those games. We’ll be updating this list, so check back for more. Also, in addition to previously released titles getting new PSVR 2 support, we’ve also included brand new titles launching with both PSVR and PSVR 2 support. You’ll find those at the bottom, labeled [NEW].

We’ve also included a [Awaiting Further Confirmation] section at the bottom, which we are in the process of vetting.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

Based on the series’ graphic novels, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners tosses you into the flooded ruins of New Orleans, where you face gut-wrenching choices: Kill the zombies? Sure. Join a gang? Okay. Execute someone who may be innocent to maintain an alliance..? That one’s on you. While not a launch title, Skydance is bringing the free PSVR 2 upgrade on March 21st, arriving alongside the sequel as it finally leaves Quest exclusivity.

Awaiting Further Confirmation

There are a number of games that many expect, or have heard will get either cross-buy or some form of free PSVR 2 upgrade at some point. We’re in the process of verifying these titles; they still have poor documentation (some guy in Discord said it!), or studios haven’t fully committed to free support (“We want to, but we still have to figure it out..)

We’ll move these up to the section above as studios release word, or we find verifiable confirmation. Remember, this list is growing rapidly, so feel free to comment and let us know so we can make this the most complete and accurate article on the subject.

COD Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 Update Is Breaking The Game For Some AMD Gamers

COD Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 Update Is Breaking The Game For Some AMD Gamers
codwz2 s3 blackcell

Call of Duty Modern-day Warfare 2 (which includes CoD:Warzone 2.) just obtained its significant Season 3 update, bringing along new modes like Substantial Resurgence, Gunfight, and Cranked, as effectively as new maps, new operators, and updates to the Ricochet anti-cheat method. It also brought with it a frustrating concern for some gamers, though—a total inability to start the activity.

A reader (who asked to continue being unnamed) wrote in to alert us about this difficulty that appears to be to primarily have an effect on customers with AMD Vega-dependent graphics hardware, which means not only the primary Radeon RX Vega 56 and RX Vega 64 graphics playing cards but also the Radeon VII and integrated GPUs based mostly on the same architecture. That list incorporates the integrated GPUs for nearly all Ryzen processors, this kind of as the Ryzen 5 5600G and 5000-series cellular processors, even if paired with a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GPU.

The screen where by the driver crash happens

More studies from around the net from the game’s Steam Group discussion boards, Reddit, AMD’s own community forums, and Twitter, all look to point out that any one with a Vega-based graphics processor will have the activity hang on an early Position monitor in which the title checks for updates and downloads the player’s profile. Our reader writes that the app turns into unresponsive for a short period before “the complete display screen goes black and typical once again seriously rapidly.”

That seems like a Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) party to us. TDR is a Home windows mechanism that detects when the graphics driver has crashed and makes an attempt to restart it. Even though this functions well to avert the whole machine from getting locked-up and can help you save users from dropping operate in place of work programs, it generally crashes any game titles or other GPU-accelerated applications as the initial driver context is missing.
error message codmw2 vega bug

Certainly, that is the error code revealed in the screenshots posted all in excess of the world wide web. DirectX error 0x887A0005 suggests that the product context was shed and the application can no longer mail instructions to the GPU. Offered that this began occurring to house owners of Vega GPUs following the Period 3 update for CoD:MW2, it seems evident that the game alone is at fault right here, but it could also be down to a previously-undiscovered situation in AMD’s graphics drivers.

Notably, there are sparse experiences of people today with other graphics cards acquiring this exact same error, but it can be well worth noting that this error message is just a generic concept explaining that your GPU driver crashed. That could occur to anybody for tons of explanations, like a corrupted graphics driver, weak electricity supply, or myriad other difficulties. Meanwhile, it appears to be like no person with a Vega GPU can in fact get in-recreation.

Some posters have encouraged consumers to just take the conventional troubleshooting techniques: cleanse out your cache files, update your graphics motorists, and validate the game’s integrity by means of Steam or the Struggle.net launcher. Though these are definitely fantastic measures to consider, it would not feel like they take care of this unique problem. A single user posted a reply from the game’s assistance staff members acknowledging the difficulty but providing no additional handy info. The bug hasn’t appeared on the game’s Trello bug tracker but.

Regrettably, we will not have any handy data either—like, say, a resolve, at minimum aside from changing your graphics card. While Vega is acquiring pretty long in the tooth at this stage, the discrete cards are even now very capable for recent video games in lessen resolutions and with modest settings it would be a disgrace for people to substitute doing the job graphics playing cards just mainly because of a single match bug. Hopefully Infinity Ward can get this situation patched up quickly. We have arrived at out to AMD for remark as nicely and will update if and when we obtain a response.

Giannis Antetokounmpo injury update: Bucks optimistic star can return for Game 2 vs. Heat, per report

Giannis Antetokounmpo injury update: Bucks optimistic star can return for Game 2 vs. Heat, per report

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo left the team’s 130-117 loss to the Miami Heat in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series with a lower back contusion. He suffered no structural damage, but his status for Game 2 and beyond will depend on how his back responds. The Bucks are optimistic that Antetokounmpo will be available for Game 2, per Shams Charania, but the two-time MVP is also reportedly dealing with a ligament issue in his wrist.

“There was an X-ray that was clear here, so we’ll monitor him, see how he does,” Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer said. “See how he wakes up, how he feels the rest of tonight and tomorrow.”

In the middle of the first quarter, Antetokounmpo took a swing pass from Joe Ingles and drove hard to the basket. As he took off for the rim from just outside the charge circle, Kevin Love slid underneath in an attempt to take a charge. Antetokounmpo had his legs taken out in the process and crashed hard to the floor on his lower back.

The play was ruled a blocking foul on Love, and Antetokounmpo remained in the game to shoot his free throws, then continued playing for a few more minutes before checking out at the end of his usual first quarter stint. Upon exiting the game, he went straight to the locker room, but was back out on the bench for the start of the second quarter.

With 9:56 remaining in the second quarter, Antetokounmpo checked back into the game and went through a series of twists and jumps near mid-court to try and loosen up his back. He only lasted a little over a minute, however, and subbed back out with 8:33 on the clock. Moving gingerly, he again went right down the tunnel to the locker room and was officially ruled out a short time later.

The Bucks were trailing by eight when Antetokounmpo left the game and never truly recovered. A run in the third quarter briefly cut the deficit to three, but they trailed by double digits for large portions of the second half and eventually lost by 13.

“That’s our guy, we hope he’s gonna be well and back out there with us Wednesday,” Khris Middleton said. “But we just gotta focus on who’s out there at the same time. They had a guy go down also and they continued to compete and play well. Same mindset we tried to have. Sucks that our guy goes down or can’t return, but we still got a job to do out there.”

Milwaukee has plenty of experience playing without Antetokounmpo, both this season when he missed 19 games and in the 2021 playoffs when he suffered a hyperextended knee in the Eastern Conference finals. It goes without saying, though, that they would prefer to have their two-time MVP on the floor.

“We don’t want him to be hurt, but it’s still next man up mentality,” Jrue Holiday said. “We have enough talent on this team to cover for him until he comes back or possibly comes back. Again, I just don’t want to see him hurt because I know what it feels like, especially Game 1 of the playoffs.”

During the regular season, Antetokounmpo averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. He was the only player in the league to put up at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and five assists a night, and the Bucks were 47-16 when he played compared to 11-8 when he sat.

Kawhi Leonard injury update: Clippers star surprisingly ruled out for Game 3 vs. Suns with knee sprain

Kawhi Leonard injury update: Clippers star surprisingly ruled out for Game 3 vs. Suns with knee sprain

Kawhi Leonard will not play in Game 3 of the Los Angeles Clippers’ first-round series vs. the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night due to a knee sprain, the team announced. Leonard initially suffered the injury in Game 1 and is expected to be day-to-day ahead of Game 4, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Clippers president Lawrence Frank told reporters Leonard is “extremely disappointed” that he won’t be able to suit up for Game 3, but wouldn’t go into further detail about the severity of his injury.

It remains unclear exactly when Leonard aggravated his knee, as he never went to the locker room and played over 80 combined minutes in Games 1 and 2. Clippers beat writer Law Murray suggested this play from the third quarter of Game 1, which was similar to the sequence where Leonard tore his ACL in the 2021 playoffs. But, again, that is just a guess.

Leonard sat out of the entire 2021-22 season to rehab his knee and had been load managing it all season long. He missed 20 of the Clippers’ first 27 games and the only time he played more than five consecutive games was when he played six in a row on either side of the All-Star break.

The plan seemed to be working to perfection. Leonard was terrific in the regular season when he did play, averaging 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists on 51.2/41.6/87.1 shooting splits. That trend continued in the first two games of this series, as Leonard put up a combined 69 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists and four steals on 24-of-44 from the field to help the Clippers steal home-court advantage.

This new injury is unrelated to the torn ACL, per Wojnarowski, though they did both happen in his right knee.

Heading into this series, the Clippers were already without Paul George, who sprained his knee during a March 21 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. While he is on the comeback trail and has restarted on-court activities, he’s not expected to play in the first round, according to Wojnarowski.

George’s absence made the Clippers sizeable underdogs against the high-powered Suns led by Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, but after earning a split in Phoenix the Clippers had some hope. That has now been significantly drained by the Leonard news. It’s nearly impossible to see how the Clippers win Game 3 without either of their stars, and there’s no guarantee that Leonard will be available for Game 4 and beyond. Even if he does play, he likely won’t be at 100 percent.

There’s still a long way to go in the series, but once again the Clippers have been dealt some serious bad luck in the playoffs.
